You have goods to store – the first thing you need to consider is which self-storage facility to use. It’s always best to remember that you’re planning on storing your personal belongings and would like them to come back to you in the condition you left them. Always make sure you check out the facility – how is the security, is it clean, do they have professional courteous staff.
Clearline Self Storage is now a proud supporter of Project Echo( http://www.project-echo.com). Project echo is an initiative about providing clothes and food for less fortunate families in Winnipeg. Clearline will be storing close to 11,000 the clothing items donated for the hampers that will be delivered to less fortunate family’s in Winnipeg.
Clearine has gone green and its time for you to follow. When we started our self storage business in 2007 we had a dream, and that dream was to reuse, re-do and revitalize the vacant manufacturing building which is now Clear line’s home. This project created an indoor, heated, drive-thru facility to service the needs of the surrounding communities including St. James, Downtown Wpg and Wolseley.
Motor Coach Industries manufacturing plant in Winnipeg’s west end, sat vacant until Clearline Self Storage and its sister company, Clearline Group, reclaimed the warehouse in 2007.
When you want to move your clutter in a self storage unit you will want to pack them properly to be organized. This means packing carefully and thinking ahead. Take a few precautions to help prevent damage and make it easier to find things later. When summer rolls around, you want to be able to find the other half of your storage materials without having to open and move stacks of boxes that weren’t clearly labeled. 3 Quick Tips: 1) To aid in stacking, use same-size boxes when possible. 2) Avoid storing items in plastic bags as they are less sturdy and could trap moisture. 3) Don’t fill boxes too their fullest this may cause them to burst. Theses 3 tips will help you when loading your storage unit.
Selling your home in today’s market can be a daunting task. Clutter and mess just makes that process even more difficult. Staging a home is a time to take your personal knick-knacks and clutter and store them. Turning your home into a model home will certainly help with sales. Potential buyers are inclined to purchase a home when they can picture their belongings in it. Photos of another family on the wall impairs this visualization.
The first step to staging a home is storing your belongings. A storage unit is typically kept after the sale of a home, because most sellers become accustomed to the benefits of a clutter-free home and having a storage unit.
When staging you(r) home, here are a few tips to help:
-Remove personal items. This includes photos, diplomas, and trinkets.
-Use natural colors for walls, tiles, and carpets. A fresh coat of paint goes a long way.
-Surveys have shown that contemporary furniture helps sell a home. Most staging companies will often remove your furniture and replace it with their “staging” furniture.
-To highlight windows, lights and space, use interesting fabrics for windows, pillows, and throw blankets.
-Almost all potential buyers will look in the cabinets. Keep those straight and neat.
-A dish of scented soaps and bath oils will give a bathroom that extra touch.
-Yards should be in tip-top shape and manicured.
-Walk up to the door and check that area. That is the first part of your home a potential buyer will see. Make sure the door, knob and kick plates are in perfect condition.

For many years, the Motor Coach Industries manufacturing plant in Winnipeg’s west end, sat vacant. In July 2007, Clearline Storage and its sister company Clearline Group, reclaimed the warehouse and began a total transformation of the once vacant space into a flexible multi-use environment for commercial office space, manufacturing and self-storage business.
Unlike most self-storage businesses that require the building of new units on new land, Clearline recycled an old space to create a viable storage business. Within the guts of the building, Clearline dedicated itself to replacing most of the infrastructure with “green” technology. Lighting and heating are all of high-efficiency and use only a fraction of the energy that was once required. Manitoba Hydro recognizes these significant upgrades and the building is now certified as a Power Smart Energy Efficient building.
The commitment to save the building did not just stop at these modern utility upgrades. Clearline transformed Motor Coach’s 2nd floor office space into a budget priced storage area – perfect for the cost conscious consumer.
Clearline is focused on providing the best storage solutions for their customers. Its commitment to revitalizing and recycling an existing historical structure to create a dynamic, energy-efficient mulit-tenant workspace is an achievement that the market can’t ignore.
Clearline Self-storage is an excellent option for storing your overflowing office or household goods. You can think of your storage unit as a second garage or business supply room.
When planning what to store in your unit, whether for business or personal purposes, consider that all storage facilities have restrictions on what they will allow you to store on their premises. This is for the protection of not just you and your belongings, but the facility staff and other customers and their goods. At all reputable facilities you will be required to sign a rental agreement indicating that you understand and agree to adhere to the rules and restrictions for what items are allowable. As a general rule, any item or material that is considered “inherently dangerous” will not be allowed.
In preparation for renting a storage unit, make out a preliminary inventory of the items you wish to store. Bring this with you to review with the storage facility manager to make sure you’ll be in full compliance with the list of allowable items. If you’re not sure if an item is allowed, call the self-storage facility ahead of time to find out. This will prevent any confusion upon arriving at the storage site.
Going green is what the conscientious consumer is looking for. Single-use items are out, and recycling is here to stay. Most consumers are now recycling, but what about the reducing and reusing part of going green. While the myth is storage is consumerism at its worst, there are many ways to go green with your storage and use it to support the “reuse” cause
1. Save your reusable items. Some items have meaning and emotional value. Maybe there are toys you are saving for your young nieces or clothes for a neighborhood child waiting to grow into them. Storing these items for reuse is a perfect “green” decision.
2. Reuse your paper products. Egg cartons, peanuts and packing supplies are the hardest (and often impossible) to recycle. Keep these in an area of your storage facility to reuse for packing at a later date. Flatten out packing paper when moving and use it for children to paint on.
3. Use your storage facility as a community-sharing corner. This is a perfect idea for videos, books, school supplies, sports equipment, etc.
4. Make sure your storage facility is eco-friendly and energy-efficient.
5. Downsize your living space – downsizing will help you budget and reduce your footprint in the world. Seasonal clothing, decorations, unused books and supplies are likely taking up an enormous amount of space. Store those items and you can reduce your living space by 30%.
Clearline Self Storage went Green with its facility when it converted an existing building that had been used for manufacturing in the past. Converting and re-furbishing an existing property to storage avoided a building from going dark in an established neighbourhood. With such a mild winter, it is hard to believe that spring is already near. Since the weather warms and the snow melts, it becomes easier to clean out your closets, attics, etc and ready yourself and your home for the new seasons. When starting your spring cleaning, the best place to begin is finding items that you do not use on a regular basis that should be in storage, not cluttering your home.
When starting your spring cleaning, start from the top and work your way down. Ceiling fans, lights, picture frames should all be dusted first. Follow with the walls, furniture, windows and other body-level items. Finally, complete with the floors and carpets. This process will likely include laundering rugs and pillows, along with furniture polish and window cleaner. Sticking to the top to bottom in every room, you will get done quicker than not having a game plan.
Keep a storage box in every room. This will be a reminder to put in items as you go. You will be surprised at how many holiday items, books, clothes, winter rugs, winter blankets, etc. that you can store until the next use. With this storage box, have a pen and paper handy to note any small damages or repairs. When going through the entire house you will likely find cracks that need mending, weather stripping that needs replacing and leaky faucets that need tightening. Rather than trying to remember, put them on your handy to-do list.
When you are complete, you will likely have a heaping mound of winter gear, decorations and hardy-used items that are no longer taking up valuable real estate in your home. Take those winter boxes to our indoor climate controlled storage facility and enjoy your clutter free home for the new few months. You can now enjoy the spring and summer with a clutter-free home.
